Curator and writer, residing in New York City. In her latest book “Culture Strike: Art and Museums in an Age of Protest” (Verso 2021), Raicovich explores the political dimensions of contemporary museum activities, viewing them as sites of civic mobilization and protest. She is a co-founder of The Francis Kite Club in East Village, NYC: an artistic salon and bar, a gathering place for discussions. She serves as the editor of Protodispatch magazine. Raicovich was the former director of the Leslie Lohman Museum of Art, focusing on queer art. During her tenure as the director of the Queens Museum in NYC, she curated exhibitions examining the intersections of art, politics, and ecology, including retrospectives such as “Mel Chin: All Over the Place” (with Manon Slome and No Longer Empty) and “Mierle Laderman Ukeles: Maintenance Art.” She is the founder of Creative Time’s Global Initiatives. Additionally, she served as the deputy director of the Dia Art Foundation, overseeing conservation strategies for iconic earthworks such as Walter De Maria’s “The Lightning Field” (1977) and Robert Smithson’s “Spiral Jetty” (1970).
