Jonas Staal is a visual artist whose work explores the relationships between art, propaganda, and democracy. He is the founder of the artistic-political organization “New World Summit” and the campaign “New Unions.” Together with BAK (basis voor actuele kunst in Utrecht), he co-founded the “New World Academy” (2013-16) and, with Florian Malzacher, leads the utopian training camp “Training for the Future.” He is also a co-administrator of the “Obscure Union” with Laure Prouvost. His projects have been widely exhibited at venues such as the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, as well as at the 7th Berlin Biennale (2012), 31st São Paulo Biennale (2014), Oslo Architecture Triennale (2016), and the Warsaw Biennale (2019).
